production material that reflects codes and conventions

For the last part of the opening sequence in 'Revenge,' several types of cinematography techniques have been used. An establishing shot has been used to show the location of this scene, this makes it clear to the audience that the scene is being played out in the park. When John is talking in this scene the clips switch from a wide shot to a mid-shot and then to a close-up, making the scene more exciting and therefore entertaining to watch. Soft melancholy non-diegetic music played in the background, denoting the character's grief of his loss. A long shot has been used to show Johns's long walk to the favorite place that they used to sit by together. The performance aspect of this is the connotation that John picking up the prop (Mise en scene) flower denotes that John is looking at it and remembering Katy, thinking to himself how she would have loved these flowers as it was her favorite for the smell of the hint's sweet notes in the flower. In the beginning of this scene, the lighting is contrasting to John's emotions, but the connotation of using this lighting is that it makes the audience wonder that Katy is still with John somehow which is why the weather is good with the sun shining with the fluffy clouds. And the mise en scene green grass, tall trees, and the livelihood of the place. This denotes how strong their love for each other was with the use of microelements.

This plays a crucial part in our thriller sequence as it shows the tragic ending for John, evoking the audience's emotions. After all the shocking events that occurred earlier in the thriller sequence 'Revenge'.
